The idea for this sculptural book is a consideration of the question, What is bookness? For me, it is the fiber itself which carries the story of form, shape, and character. Just as the embedded seed pods in this book piece carry the germination of a new plant's life story, so too, do these pods add a dimension to the essential story of this book.

This three dimensional book sculpture is made with overbeaten flax fiber embedded with copper wire and translucent silver dollar-like seed pods from the Lunaria annua. The book pages are sewn with gold thread and additional seed pods cascade from the pages with gold thread.
