If you are addicted to Polaroid transfers and emulsion lifts, or even if you have never tried this process before, you’ll love this special 2-day workshop. You will create an accordion style book with hand made paper covers and interior pages of your artful photo transfers and emulsion lifts. On the first day of the workshop, you will transfer images from slides, 4â€x 6†photos, your own art, or collage work you create on the spot, onto various paper surfaces. Using a DayLab copy system or Vivitar slide system, the image will be projected onto Polaroid film which can be further manipulated to create one-of-a-kind art. The image itself has an ethereal, fresco like quality. An emulsion lift means that you literally float the image off the original substrate and place it onto another surface. None of your original images will be affected by this process.
On the second day you will create an accordion (concertina) style book with handmade paper covers and your transfer images as interior pages. You can further enhance with mixed media techniques to add color or text to your pages. The book itself can stand and fold out to reveal the interior pages or open as a bound book.
What to bring:
Images to transfer: 4â€x 6â€black and white or color photos, magazine or other pictures or text for collage.
