Coptic Blank Books

The coptic stitched books created at Seastone Papers consist of handmade paper covering the book boards both inside and out, and handmade paper introducing each section of the textblock. Each book is one-of-a-kind. The coptic stitched book is based on a method of open spine binding developed around the 2nd century AD by early Christians (Copts) living in Egypt. The sewn bindings offer interest to the design details of the book. A precursor to the modern spiral bound book, a coptic stitched book allows a book to open fully and lay flat.
